High quality water supplies are becoming increasingly in demand – yet increasingly scarce -and regulations regarding acceptable quality are becoming more stringent. ENSR understands the value of reliable supplies of clean water and is expert in the development and application of strategies to develop and protect water supplies. We provide comprehensive groundwater and surface water supply services to municipalities, water supply companies, bottled water and beverage manufacturers, industrial and recreational facilities, and government agencies. Our integrated approach to water supply projects is designed to reliably and economically meet water supply needs by understanding physical constraints on the system while maintaining compliance with environmental and other regulatory requirements.
ENSR’s capabilities include:
Water Resouce Exploration and Assessment using a systematic approach to identify and evaluate the quantity and quality of source aquifers and surface water bodies to assess long-term water supply potential.
Environmental Assessment to ensure that water supplies are environmentally compatible.
Permitting to ensure that water supplies are developed in compliance with the full range of applicable laws and regulations.
Engineering Design of structures and systems to reliably withdraw, treat, store, and supply surface water and groundwater sources.
Resource Protection, Mitigation, and Restoration strategies and management techniques to control and mitigate pollutant sources, provide early warning of contamination potential, and restore of degraded aquatic systems.
Industrial Facility Water Supply Feasibility Study and Development Project
ENSR developed four separate industrial water supplies using groundwater and surface water for a power company in Mississippi. In one case, ENSR developed a well field capable of producing 5 million gallons a day from an aquifer that was not suitable for potable water. This effort included extensive aquifer testing, well field optimization, and a demonstration that overlying potable aquifers would not be adversely affected. At another site, ENSR designed a river water intake structure and optimized the size of an existing impoundment to assure sufficient backup supply to last the drought of record.
